This weekend I finally passed my theory test and there was no better way to celebrate than sipping some tasty alcoholic beverages at Manchester gin festival.
Held at the historical Victoria Baths, each pool playing a different part. First off was the taster room, I mean if you’re a fan of gin what better than a whole pool of the stuff. It started off in the female pool still with all of its original features with rustic changing stall with traditional stable doors!
First off was the schweepes stand where we met the lovely Emily who talked us through the rainbow of their new premium range. Now sometimes tonic can get a little boring but these new tonics are certainly going to jazz up your gin! My personal favourite had to be the cucumber however my friend who hasn’t yet taken to gin or tonic grew to like the crisp flavour.
This had to probably be my favourite of gins and as a sugar avoider with a sweet tooth it’s the perfect one for me. Brockmans has a subtle yet smooth blueberry taste however as the berries are part of the distillation you don’t get the added sugar. Naughty! This sums up the brand Mike was stood in his leather apron showing the darker side of the gin.
Slingsby is crafted using Harrogate spring water, pure single grain spirit and locally sourced botanicals synonymous with the beautiful and restorative nature of Harrogate. No lie but the rhubarb gin was the best one has tasted… ill take it on the rocks please!
One of the most interesting gins I have tasted! KURO Gin uses Japanese-inspired botanicals to create an earthy, aromatic London Dry Gin. Bamboo, Silver Birch and Spruce lead the way on flavour. Plus the bottles and branding is insane!
Refreshingly light and fruity, Tinker is a unique small batch gin. British made, Spanish style and the perfect choice for a Gintonic. Oh it also tastes like fizzers!
All in all an incredibly ginny day and you love a good tipple like me and like experimenting in flavours then this is the place for you. Not only can you taste a variety of gins, there is a bar with over 100 gins… Plus some tasty ass street food. The gin festival is still going for a couple more weeks so fancy tickling your tastebuds click here.
