As a keen traveller, a cruise has always been on my bucket list. Something about watching Titanic and all the glorious décor, and the sheer amount of elegance and space these ships have, has ingrained into me. I NEED TO SEE THIS. Obviously nowadays these cruise ships have stepped their game up, and when window shopping, I can’t imagine fitting all of this stuff onto one ship that sails across the ocean. One place where you can shop for all the cruises on the market is Iglu Cruises
The one other reason I have always dreamt of going on a cruise, is because I think it is an absolutely fantastic way to visit other countries. I love the fact that you can just hop on and off, and that one day you will be in one city and the next another. Yes, yes, I know that is what inter-railing is for I hear you say. However, don’t you just want a bit of that luxury, that style. The thought of cruising through the ocean in the day, sun beaming down, is beyond lush. Even floating along at night time and you can look at the clear ocean skies, with the giant moon reflecting onto the waves.
When you think of a cruise, you generally have a destination in mind. Well I am too greedy and I want to do them all. It is such a tricky decision to make. If you are feeling as indecisive as me then here are my top 5 cruise destinations this year.
As soon as cruise is mentioned, hands down it’s a Caribbean one. I could defiantly last as long as six months on one of these! There is no better way to discover a new exotic country than heading there on a cruise ship. Sailing the seven seas, the turquoise ocean and landing on golden sands. Just heavenly bliss. The greatest thing is you can travel at whatever time of the year. There is rarely a sunny day and even so there is nothing wrong with a tropical storm.
Purely because I just ADORE the Med life and everything it represents, I would love to explore more, and a cruise is the perfect way to discover several countries at once. It would have to stop by Croatia, which means I will probably get to see Greece, Turkey and Egypt as well, so a few new countries to tick off my bucket list! I love the sound of a Med cruise as it’s not just about the sun, but the amazing food, culture and let’s not forget shopping.
So, on my travel bucket list, there is The Northern Lights, and honestly, I could not think of a cooler way to experience this. Get my pun ha! I would be completely torn between Norway and Iceland though. Having already been to Iceland and not seeing a single part of it, I would still have to choose Norway for the pure fact of visiting a country I have not already. Anyways we are there for the main attraction which are the Northern Lights, sitting on a deck with a warm hot chocolate in my hands, staring at one of the world’s most beautiful sights. Yes please, along with the husky sledding and snowmobiling.
Having recently watched In Bruges, this is where I want to spend my fairy-tale Christmas. I am a lover of canals and what these Northern Europe cities have to offer. Cruising through Amsterdam to see the Light festival, trying the beers of Belgium and the art culture of Copenhagen, I could not imagine a more magical Winter.
Now this is ever person’s dream. A stress-free way to really explore the world. If I could I would an entire year out and just sail off for as long as I could. No airports, no queues, no un packing and re packing. Just pure bliss and relaxation! Of course, some may require flights, but the great thing is if you want to detour, you can and catch up with the cruise later down the line. There are so many choices and time frames available. Yet it is probably the top on my list. Maybe when I am retired I may find the time. Ha.
