In this day and age we live in a digital era, most of what we do in our daily lives revolve around technology and traditional means are slowly fading away! Instead of writing letters we send a quick text, postcards are replaced by Instagram posts, cheques are now wireless transfers (that is unless your my nana who refuses to step into the world on online banking). Don’t get me wrong the advances of technology have so many positive notes and brought convenience into our lives. We are able to contact loved ones miles away by the touch of a button. Documents are now signed online saving us piles of pointless papers lying about the house and not to mention trees. Even artists have iPads with stylus pens allowing them to draw digitally – but don’t you just miss that hoard of postcards showing you sunny places you want to be hanging off your fridge. I sure do. This week marks #NationalStationeryWeek set up in a bid to pick up that pen and paper and revel in all things stationery!
Now I am a lover of pretty planners, smooth writing pens and writing sets. Yes you heard – what a sap – and the other day I picked up a lovely writing set from Paperchase sat in the sun and wrote some letters to nearest and dearest and even some acquaintances – you’ll find it’s rather satisfying. I have managed to make some great pen pals from all over – who one day on my travels I hope to meet! So let’s rejoice in the power of the pen and paper and step away from the screen if just for a second. After all results of a YouGov survey in 2016 revealed that the majority of Brits agree that handwriting remains as important as ever.
Each day a different fabulous stationery company will spearhead a theme as you can see below. If you’re a #stationeryaddict then make sure you check out the competitions and activities for each day here. Join us and celebrate the best in the world of pens, pencils and paper!
