Whilst studying at university there was one staple meal that I was in love with. Tortellini, creme fraiche and cheese. Oh yes I was the epitome of healthy! It is a love that stemmed from childhood, when I was less experimental with food and loved my stuffed pasta with just plain butter. Gross right. Yet thoroughly enjoyable. That is because you get the delicious filling that provides all the flavour you need. As of late, I have not divulged in my favourite pas time food, or really pasta for that matter. So, when I was asked to try some of Dell Ugo’s new pasta plus range, well my belly immediately started rumbling.
One thing that stuck out, that I loved may I add, is that they came with a flavoured butter. It was literally like my childhood all over ago but with a touch of class and a bit more flavour. I was sent three fillings, which to my delight all had different types of butter. I enjoyed these meals, as I am now in a busy phase of my life, sometimes I just want to get home and make something quick, easy and tasty.
Spinach & Ricotta with Sage Butter:
This was the most nostalgic dish out of them all, and one I will always go back to. I mean you can’t really beat it. I loved the addition of the sage butter. I find it rare that people ever use sage and I love the flavour it brings to a dish.
Butternut Squash with Herb & Garlic Butter:
I must admit this is the one I was looking forward to the most, and this was the one I enjoyed the most. It was rich and delicious and packed full of flavour. The inside was creamy and smooth and went perfectly with the garlic and herb.
Asparagus & Mozzarella with Lemon Butter:
I really liked the idea of having asparagus filling my pasta, it’s in season and a vegetable I don’t eat enough of even though I would love too. It was flavoured well with the mozzarella as that’s a cheese that not too overpowering, and the lemon butter was just divine.
I found the branding to be really sleek, and the packaging slots nicely into the fridge. It is also great that the butter is freshly churned in Somerset! Makes me feel all rural! I would love to have the whole range as it would be great to throw a pasta party for one of my friends, it would match her amazing Rome wallpaper. These pastas are handy and convenient and a great way to pimp up a normally simple dish!
If you want to check out the range you can visit their site at Dell’Ugo, but if you want to pimp up your pasta they are available from Waitrose at £3.99 a pack.
