Veganism is thriving in popularity right now. Whether it be for ethical beliefs or dietary choices, there are more products becoming available on the market. Having family and friends that are veggies or vegan it’s great to see them having more options to choose from. Meaning they can wine and dine just as well as the rest of us. Although I admit to being meat-eater and loving it, I also am the first to admit that I think we live in a glutenous society and consume way more than necessary! My mum was veggie for over 10 years and with my dad being French I saw both sides of the coin. However, I do find it important for the animals, for the eco system and for our health to make better choices. There were some things I thought could never be replaced such as pizza, but my mind was blown when we visited Purezza in Camden.

Purezza (purity) was founded in 2015, becoming the first vegan pizzeria in the UK. We are plant pioneers, revolutionising Italian food through cruelty free ingredients. Our aim is simple: to make our plant-based menu superior to the traditional alternatives.

Camden is one of my fave areas in London and just a stones throw away from the station you’ll find this hip little spot! The sun was shining and weather was sweet. The big windows opened up to a restaurant filled with natural wood, foliage and succulents. An open kitchen sat at the back of the restaurant and the vibe was bustling. There was a queue was out the door, over an hours waiting list and take aways flying out. At this point I was starting to think vegan pizza can’t be all that bad!

The classy ladies that we are, my friend and I started the evening with espresso martini’s all made with organic ingredients! Our little lady opted for a Karma Cola – which tastes amazing and kudos for ethics! We swiftly moved onto organic prosecco cos that’s how we roll. The menu isn’t huge, which I actually love, I hate making choices and getting food envy! We opted to start with some olives, try a Chesus on hempseed sourdough with a mac n cheese and green salad on the side! What came out was such a pleasant surprise and completely surpassed our expectations! No lie, I didn’t even realise you could have so many different vegan cheeses! Most noteworthy, the silken ricotta, it was just insane and the hempseed base just delicious. The mac n cheese was also spot on although you could tell the pasta was gluten-free so it had that al dente feel. Although we couldn’t squeeze in dessert but out little lady had an Oreo milkshake that was gone in seconds! Kids are the harshest of judges. We may have not fooled her with the pizza but the milkshake went down a treat!

Above all the staff were something else – the most desired customer services levels. They laughed, they chatted, they advised and were all round super happy and friendly! Most importantly, they made our night and overall massively contributed to our experience there.

In all honesty, kudos to this little planet loving spot. It really has changed my perception on dining out. Where I would normally opt for meat and fish, if I could choose a place like this again I would!
