As you can see by my Instagram and the majority of this blog, I enjoy food. Like a lot. Just give me the food, all of the food, all day long. I pride myself on being one of those people who will try anything once – as an adult I have now managed to make myself like numerous foods, such as olives, artichokes and aubergine, however I’ll still pass on the mushrooms and I’m not best friends with the good old tomato. I have been very lucky in my life – with my dad being half French, half Algerian, owning a restaurant and my uncles being chefs  – I have been introduced to many tastes and I have a very broad palette.

Back to me trying any foods – as a child we lived in Africa and were encouraged to try many local, exotic foods – this may be why I will eat anything! I have always been a particular fan of Middle Eastern foods – this may be the Algerian in me, but I find it is full of flavour with so many herbs and spices yet not so much heat – I’m soft and can not deal with spicy stuff what so ever. Now one country that will heed to my palette is Dubai, with a combination of Iranian, Lebanese and Arabic food, the cuisine will only leave you craving for more.

In a sweltering hot country there is nothing like tucking into a fresh plate of Tabbouleh, made from tomatoes, green onions and cucumber and is seasoned with fresh mint and lemon juice.

Shish taouk is a traditional marinated chicken shish kebab of Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s tender, juicy and full of flavour and is often served with a flatbread,  garlic dips, pickles and chips.

The most popular dessert during the month of Ramadan, Luqaimat are small deep-fried dumplings made out of butter, milk, sugar, flour, saffron, and cardamom. The more you eat, the more you fall in love with them.
